FAQ – Frequently asked questions

We have put together a small FAQ Frequently Asked Questions below with information on some points that might interest you.

How can I cancel?2023-04-17T11:07:07+02:00

When booking directly via our website or via telephone or e-mail, it is possible to cancel the booked room via our website or via telephone or e-mail. The current arrangements are stated in the reservation confirmation.

If you book via third-party booking portals (such as HRS, Booking, etc.) on the Internet, the terms and conditions agreed there apply. If you have realised your booking on the Internet via the above-mentioned booking portals, please cancel via the same channel.

We are not allowed to intervene in bookings made via third parties.

Are there smoking / non-smoking rooms?2023-04-12T15:34:19+02:00

We are non-smoking hotels. Smoking is not permitted in the rooms. For smokers we have created a covered and heated “open-air smoking corner” at the hotel. The NordWest-Hotel “Amsterdam” also has a roof terrace where smoking is permitted. In the NordWest-Hotel “Bad Zwischenahn” smoking is allowed on the room terrace or the room balcony.

How much does parking cost at NordWest-Hotels?2023-04-12T15:34:06+02:00

We provide our hotel-owned parking spaces for cars, trailers, trucks and buses free of charge. Please note that no reservation can be made for this.

Our beds can be adjusted at the head ends. To adjust the headrest, the beds must be moved away from the back wall.
If you need an extra pillow, please contact reception.

We have the following pillows in house:

  • Large pillow 80×80 cm,
  • Half pillow 40×40 cm, 40×80 cm,
  • bolsters

You are welcome to bring your four-legged friend with you. We only charge € 10.00 per dog per night (without food). In the room you will receive a dog mat and two bowls for your four-legged friend. Please understand that your four-legged friend is only allowed in our restaurants after a daily reservation at the reception. We reserve the right to prohibit access for dogs. Especially in the vicinity of the breakfast buffet and, if applicable, the evening buffet, access is prohibited for hygienic reasons. However, you are welcome to stay with your four-legged friend in the available anterooms and adjoining rooms or on our terrace for breakfast.

Please take into account that only 1 dog is allowed per room and advance booking is required.

Can I safely store my bicycle?2023-04-12T15:33:25+02:00

You can store your bike in our guest bike house free of charge.

Bicycle rental

Every day you can rent bicycles from us for a fee so that you can explore the beautiful Ammerland. There are more than 60 bicycles available, but reservations are requested.

Bicycle rental

The unsupervised charging of large batteries for e.g. pedelecs, e-bikes, electric wheelchairs & scooters is not permitted. However, there are sufficient sockets available in our guest bike house.

Can I charge with an electric car?2023-04-12T15:33:10+02:00

Our public charging stations, both for electric cars and for motorbikes with type 2 plugs, have two charging points with 22 KW power each. They are available around the clock and parking is free of charge. To charge, you need either an RFID card (charging network association and roaming partner) or a contactless German EC/Giro card.

When can I check in on the day of arrival?2023-04-12T15:32:56+02:00

The rooms are available from 3 pm on the day of arrival. If you arrive before this time, please contact our reception. If your room is already available, you can of course check in earlier (partly for a fee). For a small surcharge, you can reserve an early arrival, subject to availability. Alternatively, we will store your luggage in an extra room until check-in is possible – so you can, for example, explore the Ammerland a little on the day of arrival.

Until when can I check out on the day of departure?2023-04-12T15:32:42+02:00

On the day of departure, the rooms are available until 11 am. A later check-out is possible after consultation with our reception for a small surcharge, provided that your room is not needed for a new guest.

When is the reception staffed?2023-11-03T09:25:37+01:00

From 06:30 to 12:30 and from 15:00 to 23:30, we are personally available for your assistance and consultation at the reception during the peak season.

During the off-season, from November to March, our availability may be limited, depending on demand, from 06:30 to 12:30 and from 15:00 to 23:30. Contactless check-in can be arranged outside of these hours by prior phone arrangement.

A healthy breakfast buffet is available daily until 11:00 a.m.

Mon-Fri from 06:30 – 11:00,
Sat+Sun+Fri from 07:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Baby cot: free
Children 0 – 5.9 years: free, in parents’ room/bed (incl. breakfast)
Extra bed, child 6 – 13,9 years: € 25,00 (incl. breakfast)
Extra bed, from 14 years: € 35,00 (incl. breakfast)

We offer special conditions for families with two or more children, depending on the hotel. Please contact the respective hotel directly for information on the availability of family rooms.

We are staying in a hotel but friends are coming with a camper van. Is that possible?2023-04-12T15:31:45+02:00

Parking spaces for motorhomes are available in our hotel car park in front of the house at our bicycle rental. For our camper van guests we charge a “camper van flat rate” of  € 23,50 per person / per day. The price includes the parking fee for your motorhome, participation in the breakfast buffet as well as the guest contribution/Kurtaxe(CityTax), use of the shower and WC in our sauna area.

Buses of the VWG leave near the hotel.

It means that when you book directly via our homepage, by phone, verbally or by e-mail, you will always receive the best available rate always at our house at the time of your request.

Are there any disabled rooms or rooms suitable for disabled persons in the hotel?2023-04-12T15:31:00+02:00

There are two “wheelchair-friendly” rooms in the NordWest Hotel “Amsterdam”.

In the NordWest-Hotel “Bad Zwischenahn” one wheelchair-friendly WC.

Unfortunately, our hotels are not completely barrier-free for structural reasons. All corridors are at ground level, a lift is available and many rooms have floor showers. Raised toilet seats are available on request. Just ask at our reception for all possibilities.
